Default New Idea: Trader

How about a new npc for cities. A Trader npc that people could be used to advertise and sell items on.

Let say you walk up to this npc Trader and talk to him.

You are asked weither you want to buy or sell

Sell: You drag your item into a box. Next to the box your character name appears. Then theres another box you type in your price. If you want sell it Ebay stile you place a minumum bid on it. If your item is purchased you get a whisper(from the trader) telling you it was purchased. Later you can go and collect it. When you talk to the trader to collect your money you also see the name of the person that purchased it.

Buy: You walk up to the trader and click buy. A list of Professions comes up. You click on the profession that was the weapon/focus/sheild you want. Then comes a list of weapon and focus types(example: Sword). Then comes a list of weapons under that name being sold(example: Zealous Sword of Swordsmanship). If you find an item you want to buy you click on it. A picture of the item pops up. also comes the name of the person selling it, and the price. You are also shown that stats of the weapon. If you want to buy the item you can click a "buy" button. Your money atmatically is taken away and placed in a bank box for the seller to collect later(you are also allowed to trade items if they are requested to pay for it). The item is placed in your inventory atomatically.

This would make selling much easier. You wouldn't have to stand in a city for 3 hours trying to sell one item. Also people wouldn't have to spam there advertisments over the chat all the time. You would have more time to play the game.

Thoughts? Ideas? Opinions?

Stunning, absolutely stunning, I think this is an amazing idea, like you said, buying/selling will become MUCH easier, spam will be drastically cut down, and it allows for more time playing the game. (Farming )

Whatever happens with the auctioning or whatever, I think there should be two npcs that work that certain mechanic in the bigger towns. I can easily see one of these guys having a HUGE crowd around them.

actually, you fogot, that with easier transaction, the price will drop... thus what you farm will be sold at lot cheaper price than what you get with LFG yelling.

--------------------------------
The OP's idea is good. HOwever, a question. Can you only sell and buy mulitple item, or just one?

Multiple item would be a bad idea (people can simply use it as addtional storage space, as well as flooding the market with too much goods that you need to scroll pages and pages to get what you want)

Also could elimenate the NPC, and just use a Trade Menu interface instead.
And no Direct link to Ebat please.

But with some modifications, I think overall its a good idea.

you wouldn't have to scroll pages and pages. I was thinking there would be a search button. Also the prices shouldn't go down because there would still be the same amount of items on the market.

Also I think the npc should still be in there. It makes the game somewhat more like a real world. If you could just open up a trade interace anywhere it wouldn't be real and would be to easy. Haveing no npc is like saying you should be able to open a menu to craft armor in a mission city.

I would be fine with a NPC trader.

You still havn't answer should it be single item that you can put up, or multi.
If allow as many item to put on sell as you want, and making it universal (and not just what ever its sold in that town or district) you would still get many many item to be sold.

Also price would go down on most items. Since equipment are not something that you used up (and you only need one or two), when there are lots people selling same or similar things, they have to lower their price to the lowest. (the Perfect Market Theroy) Lack of information or knowing a items' true value/price is one thing that lead to in-perfect market (and thus the profit)

I would do something like so...
PUt those NPCs only at the major towns (the big ones, as well as a specil created market place type of town/outpost), and keeping it there the item you put in trader's "keep" will only be sold in that town. (so if you put up a sword for sell in LA, people in Ascalon won't see it from their trader)

Also would require a progressive Fee. So for the first item you want to put up to sell, will cost you 100g to put up, and the next item will need 200g, and so on (so to stop people from putting all their stuff up) Also a possible buyer's fee too, where if someone set their items price to be 10k, one would have to buy from the trader as 10k + 500g. (a 5% fee)

This is to design there you still have some room for better profit if you spend time to search for a buyer or seller, however, still save time for those who does not want to deal with it. (and yeah.. i know.. it complicated alot of things....)

Ok, You can place in as many items as you want. But there would be a differant trade web for each city. There would be a trader in all towns but none in missions and outposts

Diffinatly a fee to place your items in, good idea.

Basically all of what you have just said makes good sence!

I like Gilburt's idea...

This is not an auction. He's talking about upfront prices. I like the fee Idea alot.
Though I dont forsee that the prices would go down though. For certain they would know what something goes for. All they would have to do, is search for products of the same, and see what they are being priced for. If they think that they are underselling it, whether they do it at the NPC, or in the trade channel in LA, the end results are still the same. By your logic if they under sell it here, the price would drop. Yes I see what you are saying, "well there's a 15^50 longbow req 9 for 30k, and there is another one for 29k..." You'll take the one for 29k. Same thing happens in the trade channel though. Though this is not the place that you would want to go to if you want to sell *Top Dollar*. This will be used mostly for the items that you know will be hard to find a buyer. This will certainly make it easier to find a buyer for your product.

I only have one thing to say about this idea...NO...I just think it is a stupid idea, not to be mean to you, but I think it is dumb. That is just me, it might be appealing to others. If you really think it is good, go along with it.

I think it would cause too much conflict between players, if I am understanding the idea correctly. This is supposed to be a friendly game, but that might cause even more arguments than already present.

HealthSoldier, could you explain exactly how this would cause more arguement? I figure less human interaction = less confliction. meh...

Anyway, I do like the idea. Honestly anything is an improvement over the current system really. Also, I just like the idea of going to a town and heading right to the merchant and scrolling to where the item you want is and buying it..you don't need to spam WTB or waiting for someone to spam WTS.
<- has a collection of useless item upgrades that collect dust because I'm too lazy to sell

Health, you should of just edited your last post. more efficent that way
I'm not sure what you mean. No offense, but I don't really know why its stupid. You weren't to specific. Explain.

Also, have you ever spent hours trying to sell an item? Thats a challenge many people face several times a week. Its really boring and time consumeing. Doesn't give people much time to play the game.

Although I agree with the fact that NPC auctioneers would make the buying/selling process much faster, I think that half of the fun is in hunting down the things you want and need. Also I believe that it is nice to be able to communicate with your customer at the time of the trade. I have met quite a few cool people online with which I became friends. The auction house in game would make people lazy imo, and I think that GwG is doing a great job with the auction system they currently have running.

This would be just something for those of you lazy asses that don't want to register or post auctions here on Guru hehehe jk of course

anyhoo, just my $.02

Right, my idea of a "Ventari's Sell" merchant.
That's a nice name to..

It has to be in every big town like the Material, Rune & Dye traders.
If you speak to him/her is says:

Good morning, what would you like to do?
Your possible answer may be:

I want to sell items
I want to buy items
I need a price check

Sounds nice does it?
Well, choose sell to place an item..
Is it a good idea to protect this system against trading customized items?
Gues so..

What would you like to sell?
Select the item and how many you have.
You may add a S/O & B/O
If there are offers already, there is an optional C/O to be added.

For example, take a Perfect Gold Fellblade 15^50 req. 7 20/20 +30hp..
The idea.. Sorry, just woke up wet

I want to sell it, place it.. Let's start the offers at 100k
B/O will be.. gues it's totally wrong but that's 100k + 65 ecto.
For example.. !

Someone offer 100k for it, you get a whisper..
Sounds like :
Hi <nick>, someone has offered 100k for your Fellblade.
Nice idea.. Anyway, then you get there and see all offers..
If you want to sell, cause someone offered B/O for it, you get to the merchant and contact that person.
This has nothing to do with the merchant, trade goes on like normal..

Whisper, trade.. offer, done. Like we all know now.
Maybe someone has a better idea for this, can't think of one right now

Tell the merchant you sold it, Fellblade removed.

For a price check.. Think it's all clear.
The same way as the previous sell above.

Hope you have any more idea's / opinions to make this better

The idea.. I think it's awsome when we make this perfect..
To work ingame..

Thanks in advance, cya
